Troops Treats

Say thanks to our Troops!

 

We're partnering with our Huron Valley AMVETS Post 2006 to gather gifts and notes to send to deployed service men and women from our area.

Packages will be sent continuously as we receive names through AMVETS.

 

If you know of a local deployed service man or woman who would like to be added to the recipient list, please pass their name along.

 

Acceptable Items List

 

Thanks for thinking of our Troops!

Please donate only items from this list:

 

Magazines

·  People, Time, sports magazines, car magazines, and women’s magazines.

·  Do NOT include magazines such as Playboy, etc. which may offend the host country and cause problems for our military personnel.

 

Food Items

·  Small packages of hard (non-meltable) candies

·  chewing gum, tic tacs

·  slim jims/ beef jerky

·  trail mix, packages of peanuts

·  powdered drink mixes (very popular)

·  instant soup

·  pouches of powdered food (Lipton rice or noodle sides)

·  sealable sandwich baggies also have various uses

 

Toiletries: non-liquid, non-aerosol

·  toothpaste, solid deodorant, chapstick, toothbrushes, nail clippers, sunburn cream, disposable razors, hand sanitizers, cough drops, eye drops, eyeglass wipes, soap bars.

·  Items found in the dollar aisles at Meijer and Target are a good resource.

 

Games

· Playing cards, puzzles, travel games, game books, dominoes

 

Electronics

·  iTunes gift cards

·  batteries for MP3 players, CD players, and other personal electronics

·  disposable cameras

 

Clothing

·  Warm men’s and women’s socks

·  Items such as gloves, mittens, hats and scarves generally cannot be worn during deployment

·  Handwarmers cannot be sent.
