Summer Reading Clubs start June 1
Dig into reading this summer by joining our Summer Reading Clubs!
 
Adults and Teens can join a team and dig up some reading gems.  Read whatever you like and be entered for chances to win prizes!  We'll have weekly drawings and fun throughout the summer!
 
Kids, pick up your information packet starting June 1 - check out all the great programs that are happening this summer: Our big kickoff party includes the Spirit of Alexandria's Animal Nature Bus, games, and activities.  Check out a performance of Aesop's Fables, Jim Gill's Summertime Family Playtime, and a magical show by Baffling Bill!

Summer Reading
Sign up at the Adult Desk June 1
Join at the Adult Reference Desk.  Read whatever you like and log what you've read with us.  You'll get a raffle ticket for each title read. We'll have weekly drawings for prizes throughout the summer.
  
Computer Classes

A 2-hour introduction to computers and Windows.
Mon, June 10, 6pm
Learn to input data, format cells, basic functions and more.
Tues, June 11, 6pm
Create, edit and enhance your documents.
Wed, June 12, 2pm
Getting on the internet, navigation with the browser, bookmarking favorites and online safety.
  
Book Discussion Group
Wednesday, June 12
6:30pm - 8:00pm
We will read Joy for Beginners by Erica Bauermeister. Pick up your copy of the book at the Adult Desk and join us for the discussion!
"The Book Ends" will take a summer break after June. See you in September!

 

Teen Programs

The origins of the ancient Chinese game of Go are shrouded in mystery, but we're going to have fun learning to play!  Thanks to Obed Kandjii for agreeing to teach us! Pizza and pop will be on hand for those who are serious about learning to play. Please register!

These poke-gatherings are yours to do with as you please: battle, trade, or just hang out. Thanks to Travis Trimper for being our League Leader.

Play, paint, build. We focus on Warhammer 40K, but feel free to bring your Warhammer Fantasy or LOTR army. We have tables and terrain aplenty. Newcomers are always welcome. Open to teens and adults.

For kids 3-12 years and their families.
Begin your summer with a trip to the library, sign up for the Summer Reading program and check out the live animals on the Spirit of Alexandria Nature Bus.  Games, crafts and munchies. Please register!

This performance is produced and performed by members of the Michigan Opera Theater! Come see your favorite Aesop's fables brought to life: The Fox & the Crow, the Tortoise & the Hare, The Grasshopper & the Ant, and the Lion & the Mouse!  This activity is funded in part by the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs and the Michigan Humanities Council.
